"Xiaomi was the star entertainer," Strategy Analytics Executive Director Neil Mawston said in an announcement. This is the first run through Xiaomi has bounced into the Top 5 rundown, because of its concentrate on China and nearby markets, which brought about triple-digit year-over-year growth.

"In spite of gossipy tidbits about a lull in the market, smartphone shipments keep on seeing record-setting volumes," said Ryan Reith, Program Director with IDCs Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
A main thrust behind the record smartphone volume was the joined exertion of the vendors trailing market pioneers Samsung and Apple. "The following three vendors – Xiaomi, Lenovo, and LG Electronics – all posted market-beating growth and with extraordinarily diverse methodologies," said Ramon Llamas, Research Manager with IDCs Mobile Phone group. "This demonstrates that there is still room to contend in this market, whether it is in the low end as Lenovo has done, at the top of the line where Xiaomi contends, or in both as LG Electronics has indicated. Past the top five, there are various different vendors attaining comparable results."
