Xiaomi’s newest flagship, the Mi4, was launched just last month and ships with the latest stable build of MIUI 5.  MIUI 6 is in the works and is able to be beta tested right now if you’re an owner of a Mi4, but what if you’re not really feeling Xiaomi’s very Apple-like skin over Android?  Many people love stock Android, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat is not just the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, it’s also the best by far.  Not only this but Google’s own visual style is unique and doesn’t look like Apple or Microsoft’s style, giving your phone a uniquely different look from the other Mi4 phones out there if you want to go stock.

So how do you do it?  Right now over at XDA-Developers there’s an unofficial port of CyanogenMod 11S that works with the Xiaomi Mi4, and it only takes the custom ClockworkMod Recovery to get it installed.  This is the same version of CyanogenMod found on the OnePlus One, which means that you’re getting awesome features like the CyanogenMod theme engine, brand new camera app, off-screen gestures and more.  All the instructions are over at XDA so make sure to check them out and of course take caution as doing this could render your phone unusable if something goes awry.

Secondly at the official MIUI forums a user has ported stock Android 4.4.4 using the phone’s custom kernel for maximum compatibility, meaning you’re less likely to run into the weird bugs that can pop up when dealing with custom ROMs.  The Mi4 is a closed source device so developing custom ROMs for it has been a little difficult, however when there’s a will there’s a way in the world of Android, and it looks like it only took about a month since the initial launch to get a stock Android ROM on the phone.  Everything here is super base stock so there’s no theming or advanced camera features, but Google Camera has come a long way and delivers amazing results for the modes it supports.  If you’re looking to get your stock Android fix look no further, and as always make a backup before you do any of this!  If you don’t have your own Xiaomi Mi4 you can buy the16GB version here, and the 64GB version here!

CyanogenMod 13 for Gionee M2 is an aftermarket ROM based on Android Marshmallow. The ROM is super stable and super smooth. It can be used as a daily driver without any issues. I believe we all know about CM 13 for MT6582 and I dont need to tell you about it. This ROM is compiled from source by Ajit Guraya and ported by Admin2.
GPS, USSD, Calls, Camera, Video Recording, SMS, Bluetooth and other needed features are working in this ROM and it can be used as a daily driver.

-first of all put the ROM zip in the root of your SD card, (no folder at all)

- boot in the Recovery Mode
Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together

-after which boot your device into TWRP recovery

-after which navigate to wipe system and perform a full data wipe by selecting >> wipe data/factory reset >> wipe cache>>wipe dalvik

-now go back and navigate to the SD card to select the ROM and click on yes.

-Google Apps: Repeat the above step for the Gapps zip file as well and install it on your phone.

Your hot note will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time. So, please wait.

  • Back at the start of January, the CyanogenMod team made an announcement all CyanogenMod users were waiting for. They were releasing the first batch of their Android 5.0 Lollipop variant (CM12) downloads. Now, the less good news was that these were only in nightly form. Which meant they were somewhat unstable and may include bugs, performance issues and the like. That said, this was only slightly less good news. A lot of CyanogenMod users will tell you that they prefer being on nightlies, as they get their updates much quicker (typically nightly, hence the name). Either way though, whether you prefer stable or nightly, official CM12 had arrived.


  • That said, it had not arrived for everyone. At launch, there were about 31 devices which had been included on the CM12 list. However, since then that list has started to grow extensively and we are seeing new devices being added almost daily. If you are a Sony Xperia user, then you might remember a couple of days ago CM12 was made available for a number of Xperia devices including the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet (LTE and WiFi versions), Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z Ultra GPe, Xperia T and the Xperia V.

  • You may have noticed the most recent of the Xperia range were missing from that list. This was due to only the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact (Wi-Fi) version making the CM12 grade. Well, if you own a Z3 device and were feeling left out then don’t worry. It now seems that the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and the LTE Xperia Z3 Tablet have all now been added to the list. As such their respective CM12 nightly ROMs are now ready to download and install. If you are going to give your Z3 device the CyanogenMod Lollipop treatment, then click the source link below to head over to the download page. Once there, you will just need to look down the main column for the codename of your device. If you are running the Xperia Z3 then look for “z3”. If running the Xperia Z3 Compact then look for “z3c”. Lastly, if you are running the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact then look for “scorpion”.
